Ruby Irene Farnsworth, age 84, of Lamar, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006, at her home.

Ruby was born May 7, 1921, in Weidman, Mich., to John and Carrie (Kent) Sheldon.

On Sept. 23, 1942, in Weidman, she married James H. Farnsworth. He preceded her in death in 1977.

James and Ruby made their home in Phoenix, Ariz., for many years. While there, Ruby worked for A&B Screw Machine Products, Grubers Sewing Factory and as a machine operator for Shure Electronics. She was a former member of Trinity Tabernacle in Phoenix, where she served as secretary and treasurer for 35 years. Ruby moved to Lamar to be near family and was a member of First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Sally and husband, Harold Welker, Doris and Tom Willis, all of Lamar and Wanda Martin, of Phoenix; a brother, John Sheldon, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; two sisters, Doris Terbush, Weidman and Mabel Chaffee, Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Ruby was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Janice Carol Farnsworth; two brothers, Wilber and Oren Sheldon; and four sisters, Laura Latham, Minnie Flaugher, Millie Voss and Rosie Leiter.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, at St. James Cemetery, northeast of Milford, Mo. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday at Daniel Funeral Home, Lamar.
