Georgia Hylton Powers, 75, of Turkey Creek, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at Appalachian Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 9, 1939 in Clifton Fork, VA, she was the daughter of the late Isaac Wesley Hylton, Jr. (1883-1954) and Mary Etta Rose-Hylton-Deskins (1900-1980).

Georgia enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Brenton Church of God for over 25 years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Powers (Deceased); brothers, Frazer Starlin Hylton (1917-1943), Ellis Thurman Hylton (1913-1943), Charlie Hylton (Deceased), Otis Harlan Hylton (1911-1988), Henry J. Hylton (1924-1997), John Lewis Hylton (1931-1978), Eugene Hylton (Deceased), Rev. Elmer Paul Hylton (1933-2008) and Leondis Hylton (1929-2010); and sisters, Virgie Hylton Davis (1909-1983), Della Catherine Hylton-Ferrell (1918-1993) and Madeline Essie Sue Hylton-Deskins (1926-2011).

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Melvin P. Powers & wife Madonna Powers of Fairdale, Joan Powers-Bailey & husband, Tony Bailey of Laurens, SC and Pamela Powers-Crabtree & husband, Randy Crabtree of Clarksville, TN; a granddaughter whom she raised, Robbie Hodges & husband Russell Hodges of Oceana; grandchildren, Melvin W. Powers, Elizabeth Bailey, Nathan Bailey and Kennie Bailey; great-grandchildren, Chandra, Landen and Bristol Hodges and Ethan Bailey; brother, Billy Isaac Hylton (1943-2016) and wife Shirley Hylton; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 p.m. Monday, March 24, 2014 at Calfee Funeral Service on Rt. 10 in Pineville, WV. Interment will follow at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
