Hubert Theodore Gerling, 87, Mexico, died Jan. 18, 2003, at the Missouri Veterans Home. He was born Nov. 13, 1915, in Henley, a son of Henry and Anna Rackers Gerling. He was married June 29, 1946, in Wardsville, to Agnes Huhmann, who survives at the home.

He was a graduate of Chillicothe Business School and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He worked as an accountant for Mexico Refractories and Kaiser Aluminum.

He was a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, themen's choir and St. Brendan's Senior Citizens.

Other survivors include: two sons, Tom Gerling, Fulton, and Michael Gerling, Fenton; three daughters, Julie Long, Holts Summit, Emily S. Clark, Shawnee Mission, Kan., and Mary R. Farris, Poplar Bluff; one brother, NorbertGerling, Henley; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Brendan Catholic Church. Fr. Henry Reicher will officiate. Burial will be in St. Brendan Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Arnold Funeral Home with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Brendan School or Cemetery or the Missouri Veterans Home.
