Fred Feldt was born April 22, 1879, in Germany and came to the United States in 1899, and settled in Brooklyn, New York. There he worked in a sugar factory. Bertha Bunkowski was born in Germany on May 15, 1889, and came to the United States in 1905, also, to Brooklyn, New York. She worked as a housekeeper. Fred and Bertha were married January 25, 1908. They moved to Becker County, Toad Lake Township and were members of Zion Lutheran Church of Toad Lake. They were the parents of thirteen children: Olga Neske, Fred Feldt Jr., Amelia Anderson, Edward Feldt, Freida Osterman, Henry Feldt, Emma Wick, Elsie Illg, Selma Illg, Edwin Feldt, Evelyn Proser, Harold Feldt, and Marvin Feldt. Fred passed away June 28, 1972.
