Our community was saddened Sunday when word came that George near had passed away early that morning. Mr. Near had submitted to a major operation about four months ago and although all that medical skill and loving heart and hands could do was done, he grew gradually weaker until the end. With him when the end came were Mrs. Near and her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beehler. George Near was born here and spent his entire life in this community and was a friend to all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his early departure a devoted wife and four small children, his mother, Mrs. Hardin Near, and two brothers and four sisters who have the sympathy of all who knew him. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Mennonite church with Rev. Emmet Bankert of Valparaiso, IN. in charge. Those attending from out of town were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Beehler, Rev. and Mrs. Emmet Bankert and Mr. and Mrs. Milford Walsh of Valparaiso, IN., and Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Kysser of Mansfield, OH, Mr. and Mrs. John Morse, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Bates, Mrs. Ervin Near, Mrs. Peter Reames and daughter Dorothy, Miss Isabella Morningstar and Miss Ruth Cober, R.N., all of Muskegon
