MRS. NEAR, 93, SHELBY, DIES:
SHELBY - Mrs. Almeda Near, 93, died Thursday afternoon at Shelby Community Hospital after a long illness. She was born April 21, 1867 in Port Colborne, Ontario, and was married to Hardin Near Feb. 7, 1891. The couple moved to Shelby that year. Mr. Near died Aug. 8, 1940. Mrs. Near was a member of the Reformed Mennonite Church. Survivors, including two sons Omer and Ben of Shelby; three daughters, Mrs. Jessie Beehler of Valparaiso, Ind., Mrs. Grace Watson and Mrs. Ellen Dunlop of Shelby; 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren and a brother Marlo Augustine of Buffalo, NY Funeral services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Shelby Mennonite Church with Bishop Emmett Bankert of Valparaiso, Ind. officiating. Burial will be in the Mennonite Cemetery.
