Clarence Aurand was drowned Tuesday
evening at Lovewell reservoir in northern
Jewell county (sic) as he attempted to
retrieve his family's pontoon pleasure craft,
which blew away from the shore.
Officials said the body was recovered in
about 10 feet of water late Wednesday
morning after an hours-long search.
Mr. Aurand was a lifetime area resident.
He was a farmer and a veteran of the US Army.
Surviving are the widow, Mary Jo, of the
home; his mother, Mrs. Pauline Aurand,
rural Hardy; 3 daughters, a son, and 1 son
all of the home; 4 sisters,and a brother.
