John A. Thomas, 54, former Muncie resident, died Thursday in his home in Geneva after an extended illness.

He attended Muncie schools, moved to Chicago and later went to Jackson, Mich., where he was employed by Wyman-Gordon Co. He had resided in Geneva with his mother, Thaddora Smith, for the past few years. Mr. Thomas served in the Air Force.

Surviving are five sons, John, Gary, and Ronald, all of Tennessee, and Donald and Jerry, both of Jackson; two daughters, Cynthia Thomas, Jackson, and Margaret Thomas, Tennessee; his mother; five brothers, Bruce and Henry, both of Muncie, Harry of Yorktown, Harold of Cowan, and J.B. of Geneva; four sisters, Viola Williams, Ridgeville, Lena Lycan, Anderson, Lois Austin, Muncie, and Janice Mackey, Geneva; his grandfather, Ray Alberson, Muncie; and several grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel, with Chico Rivera, pastor of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
