George Alvin Roofner, 93, of Ford City, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006, at Grey's Colonial Acres, where he resided for the past 21 years. He was born March 14, 1913, in Adrian to Robert and Emma (Quigley) Roofner. Mr. Roofner was a farmer, made farm equipment repairs, and was retired from Penn DOT. He was a member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, making farm equipment repairs, and traveling. Survivors include three daughters, Roxanne Hawkins and husband James, of Kittanning, Charlotte Craft, of Mansfield, Ohio, and Georgia Heginbotham and husband Richard, of Witchita Falls, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Frances Wertz, of Levittown; and his wife, Adda Roofner. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Verna (Hill) Roofner, who died in 1973; one daughter, Joyce Roofner; four brothers, Clifford, Raymond, Frank, and Victor Roofner; and two sisters, Iola Wolfe and Nellie McCollum. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, Inc., 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning. Additional visitation will be held from noon Friday at St. Luke's United Church of Christ, Kittanning, until funeral services at 1 p.m. with his pastor, the Rev. John Snyder, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
