PARTANBURG, SC: James "Woody" Thomas Gilbert, 80, husband of Joretta Seals Gilbert died Sunday, December 1, 2013. Born May 3, 1933, to the late Thomas L. and Mabel Robbins Gilbert, he was the last surviving of 13 children.
He was retired from Christman & Parsons as a field superintendent and he was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a Sunday School Superintendent and other offices. He was a talented, well-loved gentleman whose hobbies were antiques, restoration, and turning junk into treasures.
He is survived by his wife, Joretta, many nieces and nephews, special great nieces and nephews, a special family friend, Ken Lee of Pauline, and his lap dog, Boots.
A Memorial Service will be 1:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 4, at Bobo Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Jerry Ford. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. before the service.
