He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, a 50 year member of the Hanover F.O.E., a member and past president of the Republican Club and a member of the McSherrystown Home Association.
He was born at Edgegrove near McSherrystown, a son of the late Lewis and Catherine Livelsberger Groft.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Cyril Noel, McSherrystown; two sons, Thomas and Philip L., both of New Oxford; 11 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother Leo, McSherrystown and a sister Corrine Groft, Hanover.
The Funeral will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. from the Panebaker Funeral Home, Hanover followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by his pastor, Rt. Rev. Hubert McGuire at St. Vincent de Paul Church. Burial will be in St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
