A son of the late Lewis and Catherine Livelsberger Groft, he was born March 16, 1890 in Adams County. Mr. Groft was formerly employed by the Hanover Cordage Co., retiring in 1951. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Hanover and Harold H. Bair Post 14, American Legion.
Surviving are two sisters and three brothers, Miss Corrine Groft and John T. Groft, Hanover; Mrs. Curtis H. Smith, Hanover Guy Groft, Hanover and Leo Groft, Ridge Ave., McSherrystown.
Funeral services will be held Monday, with prayers at 8:30 a.m. at the Bucher Funeral Home, Hanover, followed by a Requiem Mass at 9 at St. Joseph's Church. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Charles E. Park will be celebrant. Burial will be in Conewago Chapel Cemetery.
