Joe Swboni, 73, of Gowen, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1940, in Hartshorne to George Clarence and Eva (Galoski) Swboni. He grew up there and lived in Hartshorne and Gowen all his life. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a farmer all his life as well and worked at other jobs through the years. He married Patricia Wedlow on July 20, 2004. He enjoyed talking with people, spending time with his son and working around his horses, chickens, ducks and his dog. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hartshorne and also attended Gloryland Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Swboni; sons, Matell Swboni, Smoky Joe Swboni and wife Carol, of Witt Springs, Ark., Justin Swboni, of Hot Springs, Ark., and Richie Wansick, and wife, Sara, of Hartshorne; daughter, Eva Chaffin, and husband, John, of Springdale, Ark.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley "Jiggs" Swboni, and wife, Bridgett, of Streetsboro, Ohio; a sister, Harlan Erwin, of Parma, Ohio; a special niece, Pamela Dixon, and other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Ann Smith, Nellie Hignite and Kathrine "Kat" Miano, and brothers George C., Mike, John, Frank Victor and George Robert Swboni. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, in Hartshorne, with Father Hung Viet Le officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Hartshorne. Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Donald Sutton, David Roberts, George Swboni, Shane Swboni, Garet Swboni and Richie Wansick. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Erwin, Jr., Perry Wood, Raymond Cowen, Johnny Cowen and Sonny Hobbs.
