Andes - Mrs Nettie Close, 72, of Jones Hollow Town of Andes, died Monday, Dec 30, at the Margretville Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. She was born April 8, 1902, a daughter of Phillip and Catherine (Alexander) Van Keuren of Andes. She was married to Eldon Close on Feb 24, 1921, at her home in Andes. He died in 1965. She was a member of the Advent Church in Margaretville. Mrs Close is survived by four daughters, Mrs Catherine Davis of South Kortright, Mrs Dorothy Truesdale of Hobart, Mrs Betty Utter of Margaretville, and Mrs Janet Weaver of Binghampton; two sons, Gary Close of North Hanpton, Mass, and Gilbert Close of Downsville; and a sister, Mary Ann Gerkin, of Delhi; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan 2, at the Advent Church, Margaretville, with the Rev George Boatwright officiating. Burial will be at Andes Cemetery. Friends may call at the Jester Funeral Home in Andes, at their convenience.
