Funeral services for John F. Svoboda of Montgomery were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, from the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague. Father Raymond J. Zweber conducted the services and interment was made in St. Wenceslaus cemetery at New Prague. Pallbearers were Tom, Leonard and Wally Duban, Arthur Stresnak, Myron Eischens and Richard Cecka.
John F. Svoboda, son of the late John and Katherine Ziskovsky Svoboda, was born in Veseli, Wheatland township, on May 24, 1890. He was united in marriage to Mary L. Rehor and his second marriage was to Dora Sipera at Faribault. Following their marriage they farmed in the Faribault area until 1955 when they retired and moved to Montgomery. Mrs. Svoboda passed away on January 19 of last year. Follwoing her death, Mr. Svoboda entered Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague, where he received medical care and later became a resident at Siemers Board and Care in Montgomery. He passed away at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague on Monday, December 29, at the age of 85 years.
He was a member of the W.F.L.A. Lodge of Montgomery.
He is survived by one son, Albert Svoboda of New Prague; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Marion) Collins of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Mrs. George (Loretta) Malecha and Mrs. Richard (Theresa) Cecka, both of Bloomington; three brothers, Louis J. and Emil J. Svoboda both of New Prague and Jerry P. Svoboda of Spicer, Minnesota; one sister, Mary Barta of Spicer, Mn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first and second wife, four brothers, Charles, Joseph, Edward and Albert Svoboda and one sister, Katherine Svoboda, who died in infancy.
