Mr. and Mrs. John Svoboda, who live in Scott County, but were former residents of Wheatland, Rice County, were notified last week of the death of their son, Albert Svoboda, who died of pneumonia and influenza at the base hospital, Atlanta, Georgia, on Friday, October 4. He joined the Navy May 15, 1917, and was 21 years old at the time of his death. Mr. and Mrs. Svoboda had three sons in the service. Last spring their son Jerry was seriously injured on the battle front in France, necessitating the amputation of both legs. The third son, Charles, formerly of this city, and employed with the Farmer Seed & Nursery Company, is now in France.
