Erskine Syx Jr., 77, of Bessemer, the Rock Creek community, died Monday, March 24, 2003, at his residence.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at New Horizon Memorial Chapel with burial in Good Hope Cemetery in Sayre. Revs. Bob Fields, Earl Wright Jr., Doug Tate and Loney McCullough will officiate. New Horizon Memorial Funeral Home is directing.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Jewel L. Wright Syx; two brothers, Edwin and Raymond Syx; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Survived by his wife, Annette McClain Syx; three daughters, Rebecca Syx, Daisy Syx (Ralph) Hayes, and Phyllis Syx (Phillip) Roberts; three sons, Kenneth Syx, Ronald (Brenda) Syx, and Glenn (Jane) Syx; stepdaughters, Judy (James) Wells, and Teresa (Ladd) Goodwin; stepsons, Paul (Cynthia) Syx, Lorn (Shelia) Syx, and Steven (Connie) Syx; two sisters, Wanda Irvin and Rita Salters of Rock Creek; one brother, Paul H. Syx of Oak Grove; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.
