Joseph Garfield (Bud) Hackler, 82, died at his home here Saturday, August 10, 1963. He had been ill for some time.

Mr. Hackler was born in Grayson County in 1881 to the late Steve Hackler and wife.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sis Hackler; two daughters, Miss Ovella Hackler of the home, and Mrs. Robert Cassell, Comers Rock, and three brothers, Emmett Hackler, Comers Rock, Wiley E. Hackler, Galax and Calvin Hackler, Ridge Farm, Ill.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, at Mt. Zion Methodist Church by the Rev. Johnny Farmer, pastor of the church, and the Rev. J. R. Shumate of Sugar Grove, a Baptist minister.

Interment was in Comers Rock Cemetery.

The body was removed Sunday from Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, to the residence, where it rested until time for removal to be placed in the church one hour before the services.
