John Franklin Phillips, 88, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Riverpointe Health Campus. He was born March 24, 1928, in Hawesville, KY, to the late Henry Clyde and Vernia (Alsip) Phillips.

He retired in 1990 after working 45 years at Kraft General Foods. He was a member Bethany Christian Church, where he served as an elder. He enjoyed gardening, belonged to the Beagle Club and enjoyed hunting in his later years. His favorite activity was playing the guitar for family and friends at social gatherings. He was a true Mr. Fix It, no problem was too big. In another life, he would have made an exceptional engineer.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lee (Douglas) Phillips; son, Jerry Wayne Phillips; four brothers, Earl, Kenneth, Norman and Jimmy Phillips; sister, Martha Meredith.

He is survived by son, John L. (Patsy) Phillips; granddaughter, Rae Ann (Mark) Reinike; two step-grandchildren, Brett Tillotson and Tyron Vanlue; several great-grandchildren, and sisters-in-law, Ann, Linda, and Gail Phillips and Mary Douglas.

Funeral Services will be 2:00PM, Monday May 16, 2016, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Rd., with entombment in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Monday from 12:00 to 2:00PM at the funeral home.
