Laurel Resident Dies in Billings

Henry Hartung, 84, of 208 Woodland Ave., Laurel, died at a Billings hospital at 5:45 a.m. Sunday of a heart ailment. He had been in the hospital since March 11.

He was born Aug. 9, 1869, at Kolb, Russia, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John George Hartung, and married Anna Elizabeth Rieber Jan. 15, 1895, in Russia. They came to the United States in 1903, residing at Tacoma, Wash., until moving to Billings in 1910. They moved to Laurel in 1912. Mrs. Hartung died in Laurel on Aug. 13, 1942. Mr. Hartung married Mrs. Katherine Miller in 1943, and she died in 1945.

He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Laurel. Funeral services will be conducted at the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday by the Rev. H. C. Haemmelmann, pastor, and burial will be in the Laurel Cemetery. The Settergren Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hartung is survived by three daughters, Mrs. C. H. Frank of 727 Howard Ave., Mrs. Pauline born of 210 Jefferson St. and Mrs. Eva Schneider of Laurel; six sons, Alex Hartung of Billings, Tony Hartung of 512 S. 35th St., Adam E. Hartung of 506 S. 31st St., Henry Hartung Jr. and Carl Hartung, both of Vancouver, Wash., and Harman Hartung of Camas, Wash.; 46 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. April 12, 1954
