John B. Bowen was the son of William Russell Bowen and Elizabeth Frances Bradshaw. John Bowen was born in Sebastian county, Arkansas and came to Kern county in 1890. He served as a constable at Maricopa from 1911 until his death. Survivors include his widow Cora (May) Bowen; sons Russell Bowen of Bakersfield and Ray Bowen of South Gate; grandson James Russell Bowen of Bakersfield; sister Rachel Crossland of Choteau, Oklahoma; brother Alex Bowen of Richmond; sister-in-law Anna Bridges of Bakersfield; nieces Mary Kamrau and Retta Clark of Bakersfield, Habie Addy of Yuba City, Luella Hull of Riverbank; and nephews Jimmie Bowen of Bakersfield and William Bowen of Richmond.
