FRANKLIN BEERS WAS A PROMINENT MAN
The Provo Enquirer of last Saturday had this favorable comment on the life and character of Franklin Beers father of F. C. Beers of Castledale.

Franklin Beers one of Utah County's most widely known citizens has passed to his long rest and hundreds of people throughout the state will mourn his loss. The end came peacefully Friday night at 11 o'clock at the home of the deceased 240 North Academy Avenue. For a year now Mr . Beers has been ailing and two weeks ago he was taken to the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City where a delicate pelvic operation was performed. He remained at the hospital until Thursday last when he returned to his home in this city. Within a few hours after his return he began to grow weaker and this attack finally culminated in death.

Franklin Beers was born in the city of New York on the 16th day of October 1842. When six years old he accompanied his mother and his sister to Utah arriving in 1848. He came to live in the subsequent development of the city and the county, in general he took a leading part.

He married Elizabeth Glines of Cedar Fort and was the father of eleven children. He was energetic, frugal and hard working. By his industry he built up a large and profitable trade in Pl easant Grove and later extended his interests to Vernal where he owned one of the leading mercantile establishments. He also did an extensive business here in Provo.

The deceased was widely known throughout the state and his name was honored wherever he was known. His sterling honesty was his trade mark and it was recognized by all who had dealings with him. His death is a distinct loss to the community. He was not an old man, being in his prime of life and had more years been added unto him he would have repaid them by the good he would have done. His wife, nine children and ten grandchildren survive him.

The funeral was held Tuesday., Interment at Pleasant Grove.
