Bernice Chesebro
July 17, 1899 - April 24, 1984
Mrs. Kay (Bernice) Chesebro, 84, rural Monticello, died Tuesday, April 24, 1984, at St.
Clare Hospital, Monroe, following a lingering illness.
She was born on July 17, 1899, near Browntown, the daughter of John E. and Grace
Montgomery Binger. She was a graduate of Green County Normal, Monroe, and had taught
school for several years at Simmons School, until her marriage on December 26, 1918, to Kay
H. Chesebro. He died in 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Montgomery Chesebro, rural Monticello, and Mereland
Chesebro, Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers, Harold, and a
brother in infancy.
She was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church and its Circle, a charter member of
Washington Homemakers Club, a member of the Order of Eastern Star in New Glarus, and
the Royal Neighbors.
Funeral services wil be held Friday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at the Shriner-Neuenschwander
Funeral Home, Monroe. Rev. Charles Workman of the Zwingli United Church of Christ,
Monticello, will officiate in the absence of her minister. Also, officiating will be Rev. Tom
Campion, Chaplain of St. Clare Hospital, Monroe. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery,
Monroe. There will be visitation from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home.
The Order of the Eastern Star will conduct services.
A memorial fund has been established in her name
