Kay H. Chesebro, 85, rural Monticello, died Friday, Jan. 28, 1983 at Pleasant View Nursing

Home, Monroe.

He was born in Washington Township, Green County, on Aug. 17, 1897, and was one of a

set of triplets. His two brothers died at the age of six weeks. He was the son of Edwin and

Lurania Snyder Chesebro.

On Dec. 26, 1918 he was married to Bernice Binger. They had celebrated their 60th

wedding anniversary in 1978. He farmed on the home farm until he began working for Green

County Highway Department in 1946, after his son took over the farming operation. He

retired from the highway department in 1962 and he and his wife traveled for several years.

He was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church, Monroe, the New Glarus Masonic

Lodge and the New Glarus Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 31, at the Shriner-Neushwander Funeral Home.

Rev. Steven Pederson officiated and burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Monroe.

Survivors include his wife, Bernice; two sons, Monty, rural Monticello, and Merland,

Tuscon, Ariz.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Ray and Jay, his father in 1936, his mother in

1937, and one sister, Zetta Niffenegger in 1920.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
