Dot graduated as Valedictorian in 1940 from Loogootee High School. After high school, she moved to Indianapolis as a young adult and attended Indiana Business College.
Dot met her husband Jack, while volunteering at the Civil Air Patrol during World War II. They would have been married 58 years this July.
Throughout her career, Dot worked at several companies, but her favorite career was working as a Farberware demonstrator at the William H. Block store in downtown Indianapolis. She regularly volunteered at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Indianapolis and for the Democratic Party. Dorothy was an active member of the American Legion Post 500 Auxiliary where she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award.
The simple pleasures in life gave Dot joy. The gardening, cooking, especially the great rolls, pickles, pies, and cookies, playing cards, laughing with family and friends, organizing the family reunion, talking with the deer, squirrels, and fish in her pond, but most of all, she loved her family. Dot was loved by all and will be forever missed.
Dot is survived by her husband, Jack; her sons, Gary and his wife, Susan, Scott and his wife, Marti; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Maramor, Doris Reising, Eleanor Haller, Margie Flinn, Eva Mae Babrick, Mary Sue Sterling, Nancy Hayes; brothers, Joe Cannon and Bob Cannon.
Dot was preceded in death by her sister, Jinny Strange, and brother, John Cannon.
