Martha married David Montgomery, son of Charles and Margaret (née Reynolds) Montgomery, Sr., on the 8th of August 1811 in Little River section of Fairfield County, South Carolina. Martha and David had the following known children:

Around 1838, Martha and David emigrated west to the area around Oktibbeha County, Mississippi. Here they were charter members of Starkville A.R.P. church and leading citizens of the community.
Martha (née Thompson) Montgomery departed this life on February 7th 1871 at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 11 days. She was laid to rest in the A.R.P. cemetery near her son, Wm. Milton, who preceded her.
