Departed this life at his residence in Starkville, Miss. on the 29th of February, 1868, Dr. C. P. Montgomery, aged nearly 54 years. He was the oldest surviving son of Hon. David and Martha Montgomery. He was a native of Fairfield District, S. C. About thirty years ago, he removed to the opening West and permanently located in Oktibbeha County, Miss…His life was devoted to the medical profession.... remarkably successful in the treatment of disease … he then engaged for a few years in merchandising… the last years of his life were occupied in the improvement of stock, and the development of the agricultural resources of the country.
