Mrs. J.H. Gordon

Mrs. Maggie Cameron Gordon, 68, widow of James H. Gordon, of 746 Maryland St., died unexpectedly at her residence Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. Gordon was a daughter of the late James M. and Mamie McCaw Cameron. She had lived in Columbia for the past 50 Years and was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. J.W. (Maxine) Sox and Mrs. R.L. (Margaret) Bass of Columbia; three sons, James S. Gordon, Cayce, T.W. Gordon of Columbia, and O.V. (Buddy) Gordon of West Columbia, and three sisters, Mrs. Archie O. Coker, Mrs. S.E. Martin and Mrs. W.C. Stogner of Columbia.

Funeral services will be held from Southside Baptist Church at 4 p.m. today conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Lloyd Hellams and the Rev. Paul H. Bullington, pastor of Holland Avenue Baptist Church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas Earle Martin, Archie O. Coker, Jr., John W. Gordon, Gilbert Elkins, Fred Eargle and W.R. Ramsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the board of deacons of Southside Baptist Church, Darrell Goins, Dr. W.E. Fulmer, Dr. Pere LaBorde, Otto Bouye, Alonzo Cauthen, R.B. Hodge, Robert Lovett, Fred H. Carter, Curtis Lovett, Riley Garner, B.E. Nunn, O.P. Elkins, Mr. Hatfield, Eugene Wood and C.G. Barton.

The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Saturday.

Friends may call at 530 N. Ave. Cayce, 841 Ohio St., Columbia, and the Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel.
