Thomas Cameron Takes Own Life

Death by self-inflicted bullet wounds came to Thomas McCarley Cameron, 39, of 319 Blanding Street, at 7:30 yesterday morning, Coroner William A. Plott said yesterday.

Mr. Cameron would have observed his 40th birthday this week. He left a note which spoke of ill health. The shooting took place in his bedroom.

The case was invested by the coroner, Detective Sgt. L.C. Williams and Detective E.D. Harrell, W. Perry Eleazer, Sgt. H.W. Harris and Radio Officer D.H. Hightower.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Thompson Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. James G. Jennings, pastor of the Greenlawn Baptist Church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

A life long resident of Columbia, Mr. Cameron was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church.

He is survived by four sisters, Mrs. J.H. Gordon, Mrs. A.O. Coker, Mrs. W.C. Stogner and Mrs. S.E. Martin; two brothers, J.A. Cameron and W.T. Cameron.

Pallbearers will be E.T. Nelson, George Gerald, Charlie Aiken, A.M. Dotter, F.N. Franklin, and F.H. Carter.
