Harold was born in Erie, PA on February 10, 1920 to the late Edward Thaddeus Schauer and Edith Marie Schauer.

At the age of 21 he hopped on a train and rode from Erie to San Diego where he met his wife, Elma. They were married 64 years and resided most of these years in the San Diego area. He started out in the neon sign business at the age of 16 in Erie, PA and owned 3 neon sign businesses through the years. He had a passion for missions and the homeless and was fervent in these ministries.

He is survived by his wife, Elma, brothers, Homer, Clyde and Kenneth Schauer (Bonnie); four children, Harold-Corky Schauer Jr. (Evelyn), Darlene Mosey (Ken), Gary Schauer (Pat), Donna Krystek (Mike); nine grandchildren: Kimra Schauer, Ken Mosey, Scott Mosey, David Schauer, Steven Schauer, Michael Krystek, Marni Cunningham, Brandon Schauer, Miya Krystek; fifteen great-grandchildren. Pre-deceased by brother, Paul Schauer, sisters Vesta Boyer, Gladys Linhart, Evelyn Elmer.
