In 1956, with 5 children, Warren purchased a home in Moorhead, MN and went to Moorhead State College and became a high school math teacher. He graduated with his degree in 1958. He went to graduate school at Purdue University at Lafayette, Indiana and received his Master's Degree in mathematics and went to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks and received his Administration Degree. Warren taught math and was the Principal and a counselor at Kensington High School in Kensington, Minnesota for 20 years. He retired in 1979.
In 1970, their 16, 18 and 20 year old sons (Jerry, Roger and Steven) built their home on property they owned on Lobster Lake near Alexandria, MN. He lived in that home until his death in 2002. During their retirement they traveled in their motor home through all 48 lower states and enjoyed many trips to Alaska, where their sons lived and to Hawaii where the entire family gathered for a family vacation for Warren and Lorraine's 40th wedding anniversary. They also spent the last 18 winters of his life living in the Phoenix, AZ area.
Warren was known as a teacher, scholar, statesman, gentleman, craftsman, plumber, electrician, textbook of information, and was a general jack of all trades. (He could fix almost anything and was the family's "google" before google was started.) He loved to talk about politics and had a very dry sense of humor.
Warren passed away on July 29, 2002 at his daughter's house in Shakopee, Minnesota surrounded by family from the lung cancer that non-smokers get. Warren is survived by his wife of almost 63 years Lorraine, daughter Jeanne (Larry) Brustad of Wayzata, MN, son Roger (Gail) Augdahl of Anchorage, AK, and daughter Candace (Mike) Lano of Shakopee, MN. He has 12 grandchildren, Kraig Brustad, Kelsy (Tom) Hoene, Jason (Tanya) Augdahl, Jessica Augdahl, Brian Augdahl, Stacie Augdahl, Seth Augdahl, Cody Augdahl, Abby Augdahl, Dan Lano, John Lano, Tom Lano and a bonus granddaughter Kate Boehmer.
