John A Deiterman, the son of Bernard and Mary Kettmann Deiterman, was born September 13, 1889, at Roselle, Iowa, and passed away at the hospital at Hartley Sunday morning, April 11, 1954, at the age of 64 years, 5 months and 29 days.
When a small child he moved with his parents to Remsen, where he lived for 24 years. He spent 22 years at LeMars and for the last 12 years has resided in the Sutherland community. He was engaged in farming all his life.
He attended St. Mary's school at Remsen and was a member of Sacred Heart parish at Sutherland.
He served in the army during World War I.
On April 27, 1920, he was united in marriage to Josephine C. Henrich at LeMars. Seven children were born to this union, one of whom, a son, named Johnny, died in infancy. He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Peter Deiterman, and a sister, Ann Sturm.
Survivors are his widow, six children, Vincent of Peterson, Rosalind (Mrs. Joe Lohberger) of Sutherland, Marjorie (Mrs Joe Stanek), and Raymond and Sylvia at home; three grandchildren, Mary Jo and Kenneth Lohberger and David Deiterman; and seven brothers and sisters, Barney Deiterman of Lake Andes, S. Dak., Clara McWald of Winner, S. Dak., Henry Deiterman, Luverne, Minn., Mrs. Ben Niehus of Remsen, Iowa, Mrs. Joe Deitering of Norfolk, Nebr., Joe Deiterman of Pipestone, Minn., and Mrs. Louis Deitering of Richmond Calif.
