Mrs. Esther Morley, age 59, wife of C. B. Morley, Colfax pioneer, died this morning at Los Angeles, California, where he went two weeks ago in the hope of benefiting her health. She was accompanied by her daughter, Miss Doris Morley, who wired this morning of her mother's critical condition, asking that her father come at once, and in a half hour another telegram from a friend brought the news of her death. She had been in poor health for some time from hardening of the arteries and stomach trouble.
Mrs. Morley was born in Minnesota, came west when a child, and had been a resident of Washington 46 years, and of Whitman County for 42 years. She was married to Mr. Morley on Christmas Day, 1881, at Diamond, and they lived on a farm near Colfax until 15 years ago when they bought a home in Colfax and have lived here since.
Mrs. Morley is survived by her husband, two sons, A. C. Morley and Gus Morley; two daughters, Mrs. Sam Morrison, Steptoe, and Miss Doris Morley, and two granddaughters.
Mr. Morley will go to California for the body, which will be brought here for burial.
