John Knox Fausset, eighth child and youngest of those born to Robert Jr Fausset and first wife Anna Stewart. In 1839 Robert & Anna Fausset came to Madison Co and purchased 160 acres in Green Twp, and subsequently built a sawmill on the bank of Lick Creek. By the time he reached the age of 54 years, his children were mature men and women, able to relieve him in the routine of daily labor. John Knox Fausset described his father as: "honored and respected, and his death lamented by a large circle of friends. He was a very amiable man, and although his business transactions were extensive he was never engaged in a quarrel and never had a suit at law."
John K. Fausset remained in the Fausset family home, accumulated a comfortable fortune, and remained a prosperous farmer until his decease in 1873. The FAUSSET CEMETERY at one time was in back of the Fausset barn, so the cemetery is back away from the road, but the barn is no longer there. In Sept 2004, an old rusted round granary bin is beside the cemetery and a large house just west of it. We believe it is the original Fausset house, with additions and a second story added. The cemetery was well kept with 36 marked graves and a wide gate.
John Knox Fausset married first on 25 Nov 1847, Hamilton County Indiana to Mary Demerett. She died in childbirth 13 Jan 1850 and was buried with the child beside her in Flanagan Cemetery, Hamilton Co.
John K. Fausset married second to Sidney (maiden name may be McNutt) about 1854. They had three children; Robert, Laura C and Charles E Fausset. Sidney died 24 Aug 1860 and her firstborn Robert, died the next day. They are both buried in Fausset Family cemetery.
John K. Fausset married third to Jane Ann Fort about 1861. They became parents of at least four children named on census, Effie D., Kenneth K., Charles A., Verne L. and an adopted child Elizabeth Fort.
