Jacob's family sometimes changed the spelling of their name Fausset to Fausett. On both 1850 and 1860 census, he gives his birthplace as Ohio, but the family record says Monongalia County Virginia, now West Virginia.

The History of Hamilton Co Indiana (1880) lists Jonathan Parsons and Peter Flanagan as early settlers in 1834 Fall Creek, the southeast corner township of Hamilton County. Fall Creek was part of Delaware Twp until 1833. Other familiar names listed are Jacob FAUSSET, Robert Fauset, Baldwin Parsons, and John Vanzant.

1828: "Jacob Fauset entered a tract of land in the winter of 1828 and in Apr 1829 brought his family here to live." (Ham. Co Indiana)

(this was) The first road surveyed along Fall Creek from Indianapolis to Pendleton.
(Jacob's son?) Robert Fauset says it was a well-defined road when his father came in 1829. The first school, in a cabin on farm of Sam'l Halliday (Hiday?) about 1827 or 28; (several Hidays buried in the fausset family cemetery) Robert Fauset states this school was in operation when his father first settled here.

The First religious meetings were Methodist Episcopal and held early on at home of Jacob Fauset.
