He attended the public schools of Nashville and graduated from Pearl Senior High School and later attended Tennessee State University. He worked at Bridgestone Tire Plant for nine years.
He married Mildred Hayes in 1969 and this union was blessed with two daughters. "Sugar Bear" as he was affectionately known, was a loving husband devoted to his wife, children, family, and friends. His sudden passing October 21, 1984 is a deep loss to members of this family and a deep and personal bereavement to his friends.
