Julia accepted Christ at an early age. She was united with Fifteenth Avenue Church of Christ and later with First Baptist, Detroit, Michigan. She attended St. Matthew A.M.E. until she became ill.
Julia graduated from Pearl High School in 1965 and received a Bachelor's Degree at Tennessee State University in 1969. She received her Master's Degree at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor in 1983.
Julia united in holy matrimony to the late James Arthur (Baby) Winston in 1969 and remained so until his death in 1999. Christ Child House in Dearborn, Michigan employed Julia. She enjoyed music, reading, shopping, family gatherings, and eating a various restaurants around town.
Julia leaves to cherish her memory: devoted Son Jermaine Anthony Winston; devoted Father Willie Buford Jr.; devoted Brother Willie (Bill) Buford III; devoted Sisters Angela *Billy) Hathaway and Linda Buford Bailey; aunts Mary Chatman and Frances Buford; Aunt-in-law Geraldine Malone; uncles William (Mac) and Amos (Mildred) Buford; Sister-in-law Mildred Cantrell; Brothers-in-law Johnny Michael and Joseph Winston; devoted cousin Lucille Barbee; devoted friends Barbara Smith, Deborah Howse, Marie Holden, and Diane Jennings; devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
