Vidal O. Garcia, 94, died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Truth or Consequences. Garcia was born in the Garcia Community south of Pasamonte, N.M., on Oct. 24, 1910, to Fructuoso Garcia and Modesta (Duran) Garcia. He graduated from Grenville High School and was a member of the Baptist Church. Vidal married Fannie Kate (Ogle) Garcia on May 18, 1936, in Raton and she preceded him in death on March 25, 1947.

A lifetime resident of Union County, Vidal worked on the Hutcherson Ranch at Hayden from 1946 until he retired in 1990. He continued to live on the Hutcherson Ranch in a house known as “the Jacob’s Place” until 1998 when he left the community to spend some time with his children.

In addition to his wife and parents, Vidal was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank Garcia and his wife Tina, Emilio Garcia and Fructuoso Garcia.

He is survived by three daughters, DeLena Crisman and husband Robert of Truth or Consequences, Vidala Blalock and husband Albert of Amarillo, Texas, and Peggy Crawford of Nome, Alaska; one son, Larry Garcia and wife Gloria of Alamogordo; three sisters, Josephine Garcia of Clayton, Cleo Barbara and husband John of Albuquerque, and Rafelita Tixier and husband Cye of Tucumcari; two brothers, Louis Garcia and wife Ramona and Salome Garcia and wife Theresa, all of Albuquerque; two sisters-in-law, Earlene Garcia and Kathryn Garcia, both of Clayton; 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
