Donald R. Acord, 77, of Georgetown died at 5:50 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 17, 2005) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Donald Acord was born in Georgetown to Andrew J. and Arzella (Watts) Acord. He married Inez Farrell on June 14, 1947. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons, Kenneth Michael Acord and Mickey Darwin Acord; two daughters, Donna Christine (Michael) Cosat and Teresa Rae Whaley; three brothers, Doyne (Helen) Acord, Dewey (Pat) Acord and Clarence (Phyllis) Acord; five sisters, Mildred Utesch, Shirley (Bill) Felgenhauer, Veda (Earl) Attan, Adabelle Kern and Etha Attan; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Irvin, Andrew, Franklin and Weaver Acord; two sisters, Juanita Hall and Treva Francis and one son-in-law, Timothy Whaley.

Mr. Acord worked at General Motors Central Foundry, Tilton, for 33 1/2 years before retiring.

He was a member of Vermilion Fishing Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, and building and fixing things.
