Treva Mae Acord Francis, 76, died at 10:15 PM Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Lafayette, after a long illness from cancer. She was born Aug. 31, 1924, in Georgetown, IL, where she was a 1943 Georgetown High School graduate. She had been a Lafayette resident since 1943. On Sept. 10, 1945, she married Dale E. Francis in Lafayette, and he survives.

In 1998, Mrs. Francis retired from City News, working there for 20 years. She was a 48-year member of Schuyler Avenue Wesleyan Church, where she taught Sunday school. After retiring, she volunteered at St. Anthony Health Care.

Surviving with her husband are a son, Roger Francis (wife Bonnie) of Lafayette; four brothers, Clarence Acord of Pine Village, Dewey Acord, Doyne Acord, and Donald Acord, all of Georgetown, IL; five sisters, Etha Attan, Mildred Uteah, both of Danville, IL; Veda Attan of Nashville, TN; Shirley Felgenhauer of Westville, IL; and Ada Kern of Champaign, IL; two grandchildren, Daniel B. and Jennifer A. Francis; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Francis; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Acord and a sister, Juanita Hall. Service April 11, Hippensteel Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Thomas Schmidt officiating; entombment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
