Walter Dibb
Walter Dibb, 92, died February 17, 2002 in Ivins, Utah.
He was born August 13, 1909, a son of Tom and Margaret Dibb, in Kaysville, Utah. He married Mary Liscinsky on June 27, 1936, in Passaic, New Jersey. The marriage was solemnized May 14,
1946, in the Salt Lake City Temple.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Walter fulfilled many callings. His service included 30 years of working within the LDS Young Men's organization. A memorable experience for Walter was portraying the role of Alma in the first outdoor Hill Cumorah presentation in 1936 (the precursor to the drama which evolved and is now known as the Hill Cumorah Pageant). He and his wife Mary served a mission in the New York City Mission Home from 1971-1973.
Walter and Mary have nine children: Delores (Robert) Kelly of Thornton, Colorado; Dianne Forbis of Bountiful, Utah; Dell (Jay) Plewe of Mission Viejo, California; David (Vivian) of Duluth, Georgia; Dale (Linda) of Alpine, Utah; Donna (Terrell) Gunnell of Draper, Utah; Dorothy (David) Walton of Salt Lake City, Utah; Douglas (Roxanne) of Ivins, Utah; Durell (Jayne) of Murray, Utah.
Walter and Mary Dibb spent much of their married life in Draper, Utah, where they established lifelong, cherished friendships with early residents of that community.
One of Walter's loves was athletics. He played on an early BYU tennis team. Prior to his marriage he participated in semi-pro basketball in the Eastern United States and enjoyed such unique experiences as playing in Madison Square Garden. Walter used his sports knowledge and skills for several coaching and leadership assignments in the LDS Young Men's organization.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife Mary and one grandchild, Charlotte Kelly. He is survived by his nine children, 38 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 23, 2002, at 12 Noon in the Draper Fourth Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 420 East Stokes Avenue (approximately 13600 South) in Draper, Utah. A visitation will be held starting at 10:30 a.m. where friends may pay respects. Interment will be in the Draper Cemetery immediately following the services
