William (Billy) Greene had lots of land in the Stony Fork area of Deep Gap, North Carolina. He sold land to his children and relatives to build on. These were not just small plots to build a house but many acres in size. He sold 100 acres to my grandfather Harvey Greene on which Harvey build a house, barn, store, saw mill, and a water powered grinding mill.
William (Billy) Greene gave one acre of land on which the the Mt. View Babtist Church was built and another acre on which the church cemetery is located. The church was called Greene's Chappel and later changed to Mountain View Baptist Church which was organized in 1910. The first minutes of the church are dated September 9, 1910 with 30 charter members. He was a Deacon at the church.
William & Nancy Greene were the Great Grandparents of "DOC" WATSON. Their daughter Mary was Dock's Grandmother.
