At the age of 19 years old, Milton, as he was called, married Celia L. Hamby, daughter of William Triplett Hamby and Allie Bing Mikeal. The couple were wed on May 2, 1885 in Wilkes County, North Carolina, when she was just 17 years old.
On February 28, 1889, Milton and Celia became the parents to their first child, Nora Etta Greene, whom was born in Wilkes County. Nora Etta was the only known child born to Milton and Celia. It was between February 28, 1889 and 1890, when Celia passed away. It is unknown where Celia is buried.
Nora Etta was the second wife of John Thomas Bussell, they were married on April 3, 1909 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. Thomas & Nora E. Bussell are living in North Wilkesboro in 1910, Nora states that she had 1 child and 0 are living. In 1913, Thomas and Etta welcomed and lost their son, Walter S. Bussell. His death certificate says he was buried in Artley, North Carolina. On July 5, 1915, the couple had their last known daughter, Louise Bussell. Etta passed away of Cancer on September 19, 1917, at the age of 28 years, 6 months and 20 days.
After the death of Celia L. Hamby Greene, Milton was married to Adelaide Josephine Greene, Josephine was the daughter of Wesley Sherrill Greene and Hannah Salina McNeil. Milton and Josephine were wed on April 18, 1891 in Watauga County, North Carolina. Between this union 8 known children were born, Lora Bessie, Lunda V., William Arthur, Ida Selena and Gurney Norman Greene, as well as 3 other children, their names are unknown, and only know of them because of the 1900 and 1910 census.
Lora Bessie Greene, eldest child born to Milton and Josephine, was born on August 13, 1893 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. She was married to Thomas Garfield Miller on May 18, 1912 in Watauga County. To this union was born Lola Mae, Robert Lee, Grady Harrison and James Garfield Miller. Lora Bessie Miller passed away in Alleghany County, North Carolina on January 10, 1978.
Lunda V. Greene was born in July of 1899 in Watauga County, North Carolina, Lunda was married to Preston Hill Greene, they were wed on April 21, 1917 in Watauga County, North Carolina. They had three known children, Willard Harrison, Nettie Viola and Edward Garfield Greene. Lunda passed away on March 27, 1922 in Coshocton County, Ohio.
William Arthur Greene, the oldest son born to Milton, was born on July 5, 1900 in Wilkes County, North Carolina. William was never married nor had any children. He passed away at the Broughton Hospital in Morganton, Burke, North Carolina of Brochial Pneumonia on June 7, 1966.
Ida Selena Greene, last daughter born to Josephine and Milton was born on August 28, 1901 in Wilkes County. At the age of 23, Ida was married to Orville Judson Miller, brother to James Garfield Miller mentioned above, they were married on March 26, 1925 in Wilkes County. They were the parents to six known children, Judson Leland, John Tallen, Arlon Eugene, Virginia Ada, Verona Josephine and Betty Lou Miller. On February 1, 1955 in Watauga County, Ida Selena Miller passed away.
Gurney Norman Greene, youngest child born to Milton and Josephine, was born on July 22, 1903 in Wilkes County. He was married to Miss Dollie Beatrice Church on December 24, 1930 in Wilkes County, and to this union 4 known daughters were born, Adie Essie, Nettie V., Jeanetta Marie and Dollie Genevieve Greene. Gurney passed away 4 days after his sister, Ida, February 5, 1955 in Wilkes County.
John Melvin Greene passed away on April 27, 1944 in Elk, Wilkes, North Carolina at the age on 78 years, 8 months and 23 days of Chronic Nephritis.
