According to his baptism certificate, Taylor was born Zachary Taylor Applebach. He was a twin to Winfield Scott Applebach (also known as Scott W. or Scottie). In later years he was very proud to have been born on the day the Statue of Liberty was dedicated. On 18 March 1905, he married Maggie Dostman (License #993). They divorced, and on 31 March 1909, he married Mamie Groff (License #3554). There is thought by various family members (including wife #3 - Jennie) that he had at least a son by one of the previous unions, but at this point we have no proof. He retired from Bearings Company of America. He attended Bethany United Methodist Church/Covenant United Methodist Church in Lancaster. He and his third wife, Jennie, had 9 known children: Varge, Mary, Romaine, Galen, Frances, Charles, Paul, and twins Jean and James.
