DIES AT 79
Mrs. Maude Garrison 79, wi-
dow of William F. Garrison,
died about 6 o'clock last night
at a local nursing home. She
had been in declining health
since last November and was a
patient at the Atchison hospi-
tal from Jan. 22 until a week
ago when she was moved to the
nursing home.
Mrs. Garrison's home was at
620 Atchison Street. She had
been a resident of Atchison
since 1926 when she moved here
from Summerfield.
A daughter of Pleasant and
Eliza Duckworth. Mrs. Garri-
son was born in a covered wagon
near Omaha April 3, 1885. When
a small child she lived in a
sod house in Nebraska. The
Duckworth family lived in Rulo,
Neb. for a time before moving
to Oketo Kas and Summerfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Garrison were
Married December 31, 1904 at Falls
City. They lived on farms in
the Summerfield and Vermil-
lion communities and in Frank
fort.
After the family moved here
Mr. Garrison was employed at
the J.T. Berridge garage and at
LFM Mfg Co. He died Dec. 31
1946, on their 43rd wedding
anniversary. At the time he was
an LFM employee.
Mrs Garrison was a member
of the Methodist church, the
Mary and Martha class. Re-
bekah lodge, and the Senior
Citizens club.
She leaves three daughters,
Mrs. A.B. (Lola) Zeigler, At-
chison, Mrs. Delber (Velma)
Dyer, Kansas City, Mo. and
Mrs. Robert (Vera) Peterson
Atchison; and a son Harold L. Gar-
rison, Atchison; 12 grandchild-
dren and 17 great grandchildren
A daughter Elsie Garrison
died in 1926 at Summerfield at
the age of 12 years.
Funeral services will be held
at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the
Sawin & Dyer Chapel Dr. Roy M.
Brady will officiate. Burial will
be in the Frankfort cemetery.
Graveside services will be held
At 2:30 p.m. Friday at Frank-
fort.
The family will receive
friends from 7 to 9 p.m. to-
marrow at the Sawin & Dyer
funeral home.
