A son of William F. and Maude (Duckworth) Garrison, his parents moved from Summerfield, Kansas to Atchison when he was two years old. Mr Garrison lived in Atchison most of his life. He attended grade schools there and graduated from Atchison High School in 1942. For 34 years he worked as a clerk for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, retiring in 1985.
Mr Garrison was an avid golfer and a member of the Pineview Country Club in Atchison.
On November 9, 1942 he married the former Dorothy Reynolds, daughter of Leslie N. and Meda B. (Laird) Reynolds, in Atchison. Harold and Dorothy had six children: Michael, David, Bill, Kathy, Sarah and Jane. He also had thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
