CARLISLE - Emmett E. Myers, 66, of 1241 McClures Gap Road died Wednesday in Carlisle Hospital.

He had been a life insurance agent; had worked for Troy Laundry and Ross Distribution; was a graduate of the former Carlisle High School; a member, elder, youth group leader and Sunday school superintendent and teacher of Salem Stone United Church of Christ; active in the Keystone Area Boy Scout Council and a member of the Order of the Arrow; and a member of the Life Underwriters Association.

Surviving are his wife, Helen I. Swartz Myers; two sons, Robin R. and Randy E., both of Carlisle; two daughters, Debra M. Beam of Walnut Bottom and Barbara L. Alleman of Shippensburg; a brother, Lee, and a sister, Gertrude Line, both of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in his church. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, North Middleton Twp., at the convenience of the family.

Memorial services for Emmett E. Myers, 66, of 1241 McClures Gap Road, Carlisle, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Salem Stone United Church of Christ, 514 Stone Church Road, Carlisle.

He died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 1996, in Carlisle Hospital.

A 1949 graduate of Carlisle High School, Mr. Myers worked for Troy Laundry in Carlisle for 21 years, sold life insurance for 23 years and recently worked for Ross Distribution in Carlisle.

He was a member of Salem Stone United Church of Christ, where he was a youth group leader, Sunday school teacher and superintendent and elder of the church. He was a member of the Keystone Area Boy Scout Council, Order of the Arrow for the Boy Scouts, the Sunday School Association and Life Underwriters.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Helen I. Swartz Myers of Carlisle; two sons, Robin R. and Randy E. of Carlisle; two daughters, Debra M. Beam of Walnut Bottom and Barbara L. Alleman of Shippensburg; a brother, Lee of Carlisle; a sister, Gertrude Line of Carlisle; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Guy and Jesse.

The Rev. Dr. Lawrence G. Reinertsen, his pastor, will officiate at Saturday's service. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle, at the convenience of the family.

Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to his church.
