Elmer Lincoln Bruner was born at Estherville, IA, on December 12, 1888, and grew to manhood to Iowa.
In 1917 he entered the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in June 1919.
In 1920 he entered the employment of the North Western Railroad and was continuously employed by them until his retirement in 1963.
He had been in failing health in 1957 and passed away on Monday, February 27, at the Marsh Memorial Home at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 15 days.
He is survived by seven sons, Paul St. Hilaire in the U.S. Army and stationed in Italy, Wilfred Bruner in U.S. Navy and stationed at Norfolk, VA., Donald and Arvid Bruner of Minneapolis, MN, Russell Bruner of Excelsior, MN; Leonard Bruner of Springbrook, and Theodore Bruner of Trego, also two brothers, Edward and Glenn Bruner; six sisters, Mrs. Grace Schwartz, Estherville, IA, Mrs. Victor Gallant, Mrs. Henry Carlson, Mrs. Harold Mecklen, Mrs. Ruth Arneson, all of Amery, Mrs. Gladys Ballantine of Nebraska, and many other relatives.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 2, at 2 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Home, Rev. Robert Conner officiated, burial in Veterans Memmorial Cemetery.
Casket bearers were six sons, Wilfred, Donald, Russell, Leonard, Arvid and Theodore Bruner. (Spooner Advocate, Spooner, WI, March 9, 1961)
