Rev. Thomas Lee
Mondovi, Wis. – The Rev. Thomas Lee, 84, St. Paul, formerly of the Mondovi area, died Tuesday evening at Lyngblomsten Care Center, St. Paul, Minn.
He was born April 14, 1895, in Buffalo County to Andrew and Anna Wulff Lee and was a graduate of Mondovi High School; Lawrence College, Appleton, Wis.; St. Olaf College, Northfield, Minn, and Luther Theological Seminary.
He served as a chaplain in the Army in France during World War I and served as a missionary for several years in China. He served the Hope Lutheran Church, Ladysmith, Wis., and returned to China in 1953. After retiring, he resided in Menomonie and in Minneapolis. While in Menomonie he was active in the American Legion Post, serving as chaplain. He married Esther Nummedal June 18, 1924, in Minneapolis.
Survivors are: his wife, St. Paul; one son, David, Richmond, Va.; one daughter, Mrs. Reuben (Estelle) Martin, North St. Paul; two brothers, Myron, Hudson, Wis., and Arnold, Upper Sanduskey, Ohio; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild and two sisters, Mrs. Theodore (Mabel) Sather, Gilmanton, and Mrs. Lee (Esther) Brown, Menomonie.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Lookout Lutheran Church, the Rev. Richard Hofstad officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Sunday and until 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kjentvet and Son Funeral Home and then from noon until time of services at the church.
The Gilmanton American Legion will conduct full military rites.
