Mondovi – Esther Josephine Lee Brown, 86, of Menomonie, died Monday, Oct. 13, 1997.
Esther was born Oct. 20, 1910, to Andrew and Anna (Wulff) Lee in Mondovi. She married Clements D. Brown on Aug. 31, 1947. Clem died Feb. 11, 1961, in Charleston, W. Va. Esther graduated from Stout State University in Aug. 1933, with a degree in home economics. She then received her Master's from the Iowa State University in 1941. Esther taught home Ec. in Frederick, and in Kalamazoo, Mich. Her experiences include supervising teachers at Iowa State University, and for the states of Kan.,Wisc., and W. Va. She has also been a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Stout at Menomonie. Esther was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Menomonie.
Esther is survived by a brother, Myron of Blain, Minn.; six nephews, John Lee of Columbus, Ohio, Robert Lee of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Robert W. Lee of Menomonie, Myron Sather of Mondovi, Marcellus Lee of Milwaukee, and Rev. David Lee of Wells, Minn.; seven nieces, Evelyn Weston of New Lisbon, Lois Balk of Alma, Margaret Wall of Hudson, Audrey Zimmer of Independence, Estelle Martin of Sommerset, Mary Hofstad of Blain, Minn., and Joan Koch of Ithica, N.Y.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clem; her parents; four brothers, Arnold, Jacob, Obert and Tom; a sister, Mable; two infant sisters; and three nephews, Galen Sather, Allen Lee, and Irvin Lee.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Menomonie.
